Drug trafficking and, paradoxically, efforts to slow it are rapidly driving the deforestation in Central America’s most precious tropical rainforests, according to a trio of major studies being released today at the Pre-COP, an event sponsored by the Government of Costa Rica in the lead up to the Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP25) in Chile in December.
