USA/San Francisco. Year-over-year overdose deaths drop for sixth straight month
Year-over-year overdose deaths in San Francisco fell for the sixth consecutive month in September, according a preliminary report released Wednesday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. (…)
Encouraged by the downward trend, the San Francisco Department of Public Health on Wednesday also announced an expansion of its telehealth treatment program for opioid-use disorder.
Since March, a night navigation team in the Tenderloin has offered on-demand calls with physicians who can prescribe buprenorphine — one of the two most prominent drugs used to treat opioid addiction, and the first that can be prescribed outside of a clinic — between 8 p.m. and midnight.
