INVITATION TO JOIN THE INTERNATIONAL NETWORK FOR THE TREATMENT OF ALCOHOL USE DISORDER (INTAUT)
Dear colleagues,We all have alcohol-dependent patients who have already gone through various therapies and withdrawals, but where the disease goes on and on, we are at the limit of helplessness. In Grenoble and Stuttgart, we have been able to significantly help some of these patients with opioid treatment (mainly dihydrocodeine and buprenorphine). Some successes were so impressive that we are convinced this would help many other patients.
However, opioid treatment must not spread uncontrollably. If you want to try it, you should do so in a well-networked manner with others and adhere to a few self-evident standards. But those who do so increase their ability to help alcohol-dependent patients who are otherwise at risk of abandonment. He becomes a better doctor for these patients.
We want to build a network for this and invite you to join it. It will primarily be about alcohol addicts. However, the topic of alcohol addiction under methadone treatment certainly similarly moves many of us. We will organise INTAUT's first meeting during the Europad Conference in Lisbon next June 28-30, and we would be delighted if you could join us https://www.europad.org/.
